After being picked up we’ll make our way to Auckland’s wild West Coast, to the picture perfect Karekare beach - black sand, towering cliffs, a small offshore island and beautiful dunes all compose the rugged beauty of Karekare. Behind the Beach the idyllic Karekare Falls flow into a picturesque pool surrounded by lush native bush.

From Karekare we continue on to the famous black sands of Piha Beach, where we will walk the hour long Tasman Lookout Track and take in the incredible views of the rugged Coastline before returning to the Beach for a picnic lunch (if it’s rainy we may stop in at the top notch local café instead! After departing Piha we’ll head up the coast through the stunning Waitakere Ranges, stopping along the way to experience an impressive specimen of New Zealand’s largest species of tree, the mighty Kauri Tree.

Before long we’ll arrive at the southern end of the extensive Muriwai Beach, stretching as far as the eye can see this black sand beach is a popular surf beach for Kiwis but also home to a permanent colony of Australasian Gannets. These impressive sea birds have a wingspan of up to 2 meters and dive into the water at more than 140 kilometers per hour when fishing, depending on the season you may be lucky enough to see chicks, fledglings or mating adults.

From Muriwai we’ll make the journey back to Auckland City, dropping you back at your accommodation in the late afternoon to continue enjoying your vacation!
